Indelible marker on transparent anti-vandalism surface, Plexiglass, 150×260 cm
The work The Cracks consists of capturing the accidental cracks that occurred in Marcel Duchamp’s “The Large Glass” (1915-23) and has been part of this iconic work ever since. It is an attempt to highlight this artistic “gesture”, the openness to the random, the inclusion of the sudden and unexpected in the already completed work. At the same time, this imprint is for us a gesture of revealing the intangible, that element in a work of art that exists and does not exist. Cracks, while being there, point to a lack of matter, to a fragility.
